The IDEA CENTER

The IDEA Center at UC San Diego is an engineering student center that serves the students of the Jacobs School of Engineering, cultivating and facilitating a culture based on inclusivity, from admissions through graduation.I was tasked with updating their branding guidelines for better consistency and modernizing their brand whilst maintaining accordance with UC San Diego's branding guidelines for events and collaborations directly affiliated with the University. Utilizing cool blues and greens complementary to the UC San Diego University branding guidelines while incorporating rounded shapes and a four pointed star to represent the four values that make up the IDEA Center, this branding better distinguishes the office as separate but complementary to the University.

TASK: Design cohesive branding guidelines and templates for recurring events to establish a stronger visual identity of the IDEA Center

Thurgood marshall college

Founded in 1970, Thurgood Marshall College, also known as Third College, is one of the eight undergraduate colleges at UC San Diego. Named after the first Black Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, this college emphasizes social responsibility in conjunction with the academic university experience, emphasizes students' roles as scholar citizens. As a senior graphic design intern, I led the initiative to create evergreen branding templates in order to ensure a more cohesive visual identity specifically for our social media, carving out Thurgood Marshall College's identity to the wider campus community and ensuring consistency in the future. In doing so, I created three sub branding guides that featured different color palettes and motifs for the three quarters of the school year (fall, winter, and spring) in order to keep our socials dynamic and fresh, whilst maintaining our visual identity. This also became the themes for our annual traditions, incorporating these different themes into those events in order to keep consistency while still highlighting these important traditions.
